Fields of poppies were common in Europe at the sites of battlefields after the war because the explosives would unearth the seeds. It has become a symbol of remembering especially in Europe. “Beauty from ashes”
Oil painting 18×24 on canvas board
Ukraine Flag Landscape
I painted this as the war was breaking out over Ukraine. I wanted to convey the feeling of an impending storm and the destruction that comes with a big storm. The wheat field looks ripe for harvest and a storm would ruin this years crop. So much is ruined by war that cannot be replaced. So much grief and sadness over the effects of evil in this world.
I used the colors of the Ukraine flag and multiple photos of a storm over a wheat field as a basis for it.
Praying for Ukraine 🇺🇦 as they live under the shadow of the storm. 24 x 36 palette knife oil painting.
